Custom Tin Works was founded July 2005 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Built literally from one piece of tin and a strong desire to create works of art that will outlive us. As the work of the original tin ceiling companies impresses today, our mission was to bring the same impact of those ceilings to your home.

We spent the first three months in the shop teaching ourselves - there were no tin ceiling companies in the Carolina's. If we were to succeed - it would be from scratch. Early on in the process we discovered that all tin is not equal. And what a difference a couple dollars make. We keep it simple - if we don't sell it, you don't want it.

Four and a half years later we are, self taught from that first piece of tin and very proudly, among the very best in the country. Tin is our passion! Hand painting and installing these products is a tricky and meticulous process - one that we live for.

It is your home - your ceiling or backsplash - but it is our baby.

Travis Moore - Lead Design and Installation

~ The Father of North Carolina's Tin Renaissance ~

The companies founder, Travis is the lead artist on all of our installations, website and artwork. Custom Tin Works exists today because of Travis' tireless efforts, complete dedication and love for his art. As much for you, our clients, as for himself.

"I knew when I saw my first panel this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life." and has devoted himself to the task of reviving this lost art. "There has been blood, sweat and tears - Literally."

"I had the idea originally while in Vermont in 1999. My friend's restaurant had a wonderful historic tin ceiling and it blew me away. I wanted, in life, for my work to have that same effect on people."

Tara Moore - Customer Service / Installations

Tara Moore has been with the company since day one and is affectionately referred to as "The Boss". With a strong background as a CSR, she is responsible for Customer Service and Scheduling. She also assists with Sales, Home Shows and Backsplash Installations.

"Tara is the rock that grounds me, for artists sometimes need a lot of grounding. Not one second of this endeavor could had been accomplished without her. In addition to my partner, I am very proud to call her my wife."

Malcolm Larson - Installations

"Tininstein" At 6 foot, 8 inches tall, Malcolm Larson was the perfect fit to assist with our ceiling installations. Malcolm has a degree in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina/Wilmington and is a avid surfer.
